Insight - Today, Nuclear Weapons and Christian Prophecy

Introduction

The mid-point of amber and red lights mediate the sign of our own times on every scale across the world. In the milieu of confusion, an interesting aspect is that significant global instability flow from a single source. Geopolitical confusion, economic see-saw, religious disorientation, cultural warp and great-power contest dominate the scene misrepresenting most of the global population. However 2025 brought a radical departure from known patterns. In both West Asia and Ukraine, reckless military advances have arrowed nuclear deterrence. The risks, implications and consequences weren’t reckoned with. An attempt is made here to calibrate emerging cataclysmic nuclear posturing with spirituality through extant Christian prophecy.

Nuclear Victims Curation Pattern

Radiation contamination and toxicity of nuclear materials are well recorded from the first atomic bombs test in southern USA. 1945 double atomic bombing of Japanese cities annihilated 50,000+ persons in a few minutes. The contaminations are intergenerational. All nuclear tests in the air, on land and at sea have recorded enduring contamination on creation including human populations from Arizona US through southern Algeria, to Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean. Nuclear weapon tests are prohibited under the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. 1962 Cuban missile crisis between United States and USSR (not Russia) derived its notoriety due to suspected missiles’ nuclear capability hence US leaders heightened reaction. 1986 Chernobyl nuclear plant meltdown now seem remote to be real.    

A single nuclear weapon with a reliable delivery mechanism is sufficient to destroy significant parts of creation in a few minutes. So the possession of multiple nuclear weapons with triad (air, land and sea) delivery system only multiply global horror at potential engagement. It is beyond human comprehension to discern how deterrence is executed if not under the signature of responsible men and women. Everything nuclear demands full human will and human consciousness. Therefore, any suggestions or ideas of a winner in a nuclear conflict crystallise serious dereliction and irresponsibility of power.

New Deviations

In June 2025 United States launched an unprovoked attack on Iranian nuclear facilities with bombs and missiles. Where is the ethics? One would have assumed that such facilities have no space in US military target banks even in extreme conditions because of inherent risks. This immoral action displays feeble decision-making and policy implementation disconnected from reality. Strategic weapons and nuclear deterrence were simply dissolved on the calculus of negation which banished trust. Human dignity and fragility of humankind including US citizens in their country counted for less. This testifies the depth of deterioration of diplomacy, determination to destroy and commitment to cause global pain.

In October 2025 with regard to Ukraine, potential transfer of US Tomahawk long range missiles with ability to carry nuclear warheads hit the headlines. Raising the subject signals clear battlefield setbacks plus evidence of limited weapons inventory and narrow missile delivery opportunities. The bigger picture is a weakened deterrence framework where escalation dominance of a party seems to have eroded. Whether this triggered desperation for the nuclear file is unconfirmed but clearly the conventional weapons arsenal including strategic weapons is diminished.

Last month Russia made 2 chilling announcements. First is the introduction of Bureverstnik, a cruise missile. Second is an underwater missile, Poseidon. These are game-changers with global implications since both are nuclear-powered, have unlimited range, can carry nuclear warheads and are unstoppable. Beyond the mastery of nuclear engineering and nuclear power minimisation, implicit cost-escalation in nuclear posture puts the world on a dangerous edge. Will targets of these weapons be contamination-free on impact?

Silence is deafening on the potential radiation levels on impact of these new weapons probably due to Russia’s 2^nd strike doctrine which accounts for default radiation distribution on Russian targets from US 1^st strike. Such a scenario aligns precisely with possible global annihilation. This is very scary begging the question - should humankind be held hostage by these nuclear powers' ambitions? Should human agency give technology autonomy in statecraft? This unpredictable state of great-power relations following incremental US withdrawal from strategic/nuclear weapons treaties since 2001 align with degradations in global human affairs connected to extant Christian prophecy.

Christian Prophecy Taster

Authentic prophecy is as ancient as humankind and it concerns prior data, information, intelligence and knowledge/messages about future events held in the present. It is situated in religious spirituality of all traditions so it is not a Christian monopoly. It is about God for the good of humankind, comes from God to humankind in advance and demands specific tangible human response to God at or within a specified time. The adjective Christian denotes specific divine-disclosure (phenomenon), mediator, experiences and features including places connected to it and are interpreted according to the doctrine of Jesus Christi. Therefore the epistemology and hermeneutics of recognised divine-disclosure is precisely located in the Spirit, Jesus Christ. Christian prophecy is even more relevant today particularly in the face of aggressive offensive against truth.

The Catholic Church is a prominent interlocutor and on this basis 3 examples are presented including 1846 apparition in La Salette France, 1917 apparition in Fatima Portugal, and 1961 – 1965 apparition in Garabandal Spain. These divine-disclosures are Marian given that the messenger in each case was the Mother of God, Blessed Virgin Mary. In each apparition the mediators/children/seers obtained messages/prophecies and lastly in each case a time was given to mediators/ children/seers for the public release of the messages/prophecy. The messages and prophecies can be regarded as distillation of warnings/prophecies in the Bible especially in the 25^th chapters of Matthew’s gospels and Revelations respectively.

Nuclear weapons and deterrence are used here as proxies for global geopolitical health, which are in serious decline. Density of information noise and misinformation doesn’t remove the ugliness of reduced nuclear threshold. Such state of reality is an extension of a previously collapsing state of human affairs since 1991. This deterioration concentrate on malignant cultural preponderance in Europe, North America and Oceania; while deprivation, forever war and death run riot in the rest of the world particularly in Africa and West Asia. Currently most of the so-called developed economies are shrinking with massive debts, malfeasance, hubris and abuse of rulership. Religion is hijacked and hollowed out of its true meaning.

How did the above summary fit into divine messages and prophecies? It must be understood that Christian prophecies are reversible and conditional so far as the prescribed requirements are satisfactorily responded to on time. Adequate human response through prayers, sacrifices and transformation/repentance removes the efficacy of its threat. All the prophecies laid emphasis on the as-is status of general lukewarmness and declining quality of Catholic Christian leadership. It could be conjectured that the second insert maybe the principal reason for the official withholding of the secrets in each case beyond their stipulated release times.

1846 prophecy which had local, national and continental implications invited prayers and sacrifices from people for grace-enabled corrections. While some local adherence materialised, in less than 3 decades prophesied wars erupted in Europe including 1870 Franco-Prussian war. How many years separate 1871 and 1914? Draw conclusions. Disobedience, immorality and abuse of ethics filled the gap with millions dead and horror imposed in many parts of the world.

1917 prophecy had a global footprint including decline of Christian faith/apostacy, rise of communism, global geopolitical reconfigurations, the end of world war I, start of world war II and the emergence of Soviet Union. Human intransigence particularly Catholic leaders defiance of prophetic prescriptions. Massive destruction including atomic bombing of Japanese cities and death of millions took their toll. Chemical and biological warfare made their debut in world war I while world war II birthed atomic bomb with its cataclysmic annihilation of non-combatants. By the end of 1960s US, USSR, Britain, France and China acquired nuclear weapons. India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea later followed suit. South Africa reversed its programme after 1994.

1961 – 1965 prophecies particularly stressed divine displeasure at Catholic leadership which coincided with the Second Vatican council deliberations. Human defiance saw gradual hollowing out of Catholic leadership and parallel decline of Christian faith in Europe and North America. From then until the 1991, parts of the world under communist rule had materialistic atheistic ideologies with Soviet Union also perfecting nuclear and thermonuclear developments. Currently Christianity has lost its verve in Europe and North America while various forms of inhumane distortions and cultural regressions are innovated in the West. Life, tradition, family and community are threatened while irresponsible power, forever wars, supremacy of technology and glorification of profit deepen. The state is the absolute totalitarian monster allergic to mystery, Spirit and divinity. Prophecy has no place in public discourse. Prayers and public piety are legally restricted.

Conclusion

The world is at a crossroad. Global geopolitical forces are in a flux thereby imposing uncertainty and instability on the world. It concentrates on painful and inevitable hegemonic transition. Desperation is pushing the nuclear file and in consequence threaten creation including humankind. This state of affairs correlate perfectly with 3 Christian prophecies which among other things warned of impending global conflagration if humankind doesn’t return to authenticity, prayer and sacrifices. While hope is the last to die, scenarios are pointing to difficult times ahead as human intransigence particularly leaders with entrenched geopolitical interests attempt to push the world to the brink of a nuclear disaster.
