Book - The Instruction of Ptah-Hotep and Instruction of Ke'gemni (translated) by Battiscome Gunn
Summary
In the midst of 21st century economic abundance, technological advancement and medical innovations; sections of the global population conclude that these efforts portent the advancement of man. For them human condition has radically changed towards positive additions which implied discarding ancient wisdom and promulgate new rules of living. Sadly such thoughts only display grand illusion with catastrophic consequences. The ascendance of man based on his exclusive concentration of energies on material salvation is always historically followed by a sharp descent into self-destruction. It is always an inauthentic enterprise.
The ancient Egyptian instructors in this book written more than 6000 years ago diligently circled the wagons of human condition, found them wanting and prescribed wise nuggets brimming with liberating spirituality. They placed man in his place, as a spiritual being with a heart and consciousness bound by spiritual/cosmic laws regardless of situation, circumstance, attainment, time and location. Their aged instructions conclude that man's existence is wasted without liberating spiritual bearing and authentic living.
These texts of wisdom from Africa's remote antiquity should potentially refresh any seeker from all traditions because their deliberate constructions and deep meanings bring to the fore riches usually associated with contents from sacred texts of diverse religious traditions from later times.
Apparently the age of the text reduce attempts to paint the present generation as exceptional and advanced, rather it demands a humble reconnection with a dimension of perennial wisdom that healed man from self-imposed illusion from one generation to another. I recommend a deeper reading of this book.
Life is beautiful!
